AIGA Las Vegas celebrates it's 10th Annual Work Show honoring Design in Nevada.

Tough time means we're back work on the basics and innovation is the way to creative success. No matter what,

THE SHOW MUST GO ON.

So join us Saturday, September 12 at the Historic Downtown Fifth Street School for an evening with friends united by creativity. The evening will start with mingling and a cash bar leading into the awards presentation which wil start promptly at 7pm.

This year to mark our 10th Anniversary we're creating a People's Choice, Best of 10 Years Exhibition showcasing great work from local designers for the past 10 years.

Entries for this years competition exceeded expectations, so thank you to the Nevada agencies and companies for your continued support of AIGA Las Vegas. This years awards are being judged online by these esteemed judges:

BUSINESS/MARKETING JUDGE: Patricia Hallenbeck, Director of Strategic Sourcing and Print Services for The Walt Disney Company Patricia Hallenbeck leads the print category on behalf of The Walt Disney Company, where she is  responsible for developing the vision and strategy for print services within strategic sourcing. Within her role she works closely with creative, marketing and operational clients across the organization in support of their business unit objectives.
    Prior to joining Disney, Hallenbeck worked for globally recognized advertising agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather and Ketchum as Vice President/Director Print Services, leading the production and traffic departments as well as art production studios. During this time, she also worked on the corporate side of the company with some of the most prestigious designers on the west coast.  Hallenbeck is an active participant in various organizations such as APALA, AAAA and Media Professionals Worldwide. In her spare time, Hallenbeck is involved in flower artistry and interior decoration.

 
PRINT JUDGE: Joe Duffy, President of Duffy & Partners and an AIGA Medalist
A native of Minneapolis, Duffy is a graduate of both the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota School of Art where he studied fine art and painting. In his first job he made exploded-view technical drawings of engines and generators for a manufacturing company. In 1975, Duffy established his own illustration and design studio, catering primarily to Minneapolis advertising agencies.
    Duffy’s work includes brand and corporate identity and design development for leading global companies such as BMW, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Starbucks and Sony  His understanding of how design affects consumer attitudes has led to many big ideas executed in advertising as well as design.  He has guided the design component of significant integrated programs for EDS, The Islands of the Bahamas, Qualcomm, Whirlpool, Jim Beam Brands, Nuveen Investments, International Trucks and Nikon.
    Duffy, who holds a firm commitment to environmentally responsible design, has served as chairperson of an AIGA Environmental Committee. He has also served on the boards of AIGA, the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, MN, and the Minnesota State Arts Council. He was recently nominated to the Board of Directors of The One Club, the first designer ever to serve in that capacity.
    Today, Duffy & Partners has an unwavering commitment to make the world a better place though the use of design and creative thinking. The company’s creativity has been welcomed into millions of homes, seen in stores, in the media, on the web, in art galleries and in many retail environments. Their work has been recognized for excellence in virtually every major branding, design, corporate identity and packaging competition around the world.
 
INTERACTIVE SPECIALIST JUDGE: Lynda Weinman,  National AIGA Board Member and Co-Founder of Lynda.com
Weinman is best known as the author of numerous web design books, the co-founder of Lynda.com and the co-founder of the Flashforward Conference & Film Festival (which was acquired by BAX in 2008). Lynda.com is a site dedicated to helping media designers and communicators understand how to use professional tools and design to enhance visual communication through web, print and motion graphics. Flashforward Conference & Film Festival is an event held as an online competition and live awards ceremony showcasing and celebrating the best work on the Web in 13 categories.
    Weinman has worked professionally in design and animation for the past 22 years, and has been teaching digital design for the past 12 years. She has taught at the Art Center College of Design, San Francisco Multimedia Studies, American Film Institute, UCLA, and at numerous conferences and workshops throughout the world—before forming her own workshops in Ojai, California. In addition, she is the best-selling author of a series of books on web design, and writes for numerous magazines including MacWorld, How, Adobe, Step-by-Step Graphics, Web Techniques, Dynamic Graphics, Animation, Full Motion, New Media and Diem. One of her passions is definitely teaching. She has conducted private classes for many corporations, including MSNBC, Capital Group, CBS, NBC, Genentech and Apple Computers.
